JOHANNESBURG - Media personality Somizi Mhlongo has called on churches to openly pronounce whether they are against homosexuality following what he says were homophobic comments at his church.

Mhlongo posted a video on his social media account on Sunday after a pastor at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto said that animals don't have same-sex partners, saying its 'unnatural' for humans too.

No opinion or advice needed. I'm just venting. @grace_bible_church

He left the church service on Sunday after Bishop Dag Heward-Mills made the comments on Sunday, and took to social media saying he was deeply offended.

โ€œThe church was cheering. I am not going to sit there and listen to someone offend me. This is who I am. I am a gay man, get it straight into your skull. My soul is alright with my God.โ€

The church has come under fire on social media for comments made by Heward.

The sermon has since been published on YouTube, which has sparked outrage and debate on Twitter.
