Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge is the first female ship captain to work for Cunard Line.

She says becoming captain was never part of her plan when she first started working a as a stewardess on a cargo ship at the age of just 16.

Travelling and seeing the world was the main purpose for me... and didn't plan to do this for the rest of my life.

Thorhauge first became captain of the Queen Victoria in 2010 before steering the Queen Elizabeth.

When you work hard, it pays off. Here I am.

The Captain has worked for Cunard for 1997 and says the industry is slowly adapting to embrace more female figureheads.

It took me 13 years to work my way up from second officer to Captain.
