The City of Cape Town is expected to announce a plan to introduce its new approach towards affordable housing on Tuesday.

Mayco Member for Transport, Brett Herron, says the City is meant to identify parts of the city as restructuring zones in well located areas.

He says social housing rental units must be built in demarcated areas to access grants from the central government.

According to Herron the City is on a mission to drive an inclusion agenda and do away with Apartheid spatial planning. Those who are uncomfortable with it will unfortunately have to live with it, says Herron.

These pockets for integrated communities will be developed in and around Woodstock, Salt River, around the City Bowl, the Southern suburbs as well as the Northern suburbs.

These will be in well located CBDs were people would be able to travel for work or be located near public transport.
