Open Streets Cape Town has announced that the first Sunday of Transport Month will be celebrated by closing off about 5km of Woodstock.

It will be 5kms of car-free streets.

Managing director and co-founder at Open Streets Cape Town, Marcela Guerrero Casas says negotiations are still ongoing on how the day will pan out.

She says she would like to see Capetonians in their numbers coming together to have fun, leaving behind their vehicles for a day and taking a walk on these streets.

The event is scheduled to take place on the 1st of October between the centre of Cape Town and Observatory.

We are encouraging thousands of people to get on their bikes and skateboards or walk.
