The Naked Scientist, Chris Smith explains how Organoids will help in determining how well a cancer patient will respond to cancer treatments.

Cancer is treated with chemotherapy which attacks tumours but most times they attack the healthy tissues as well.

This breakthrough will allow the patient's particular tumour to be tested on all the available chemotherapy drugs in a lab to find out which will work and which won't.

Smith says the Organoids help will minimise the number of people being exposed to expensive drugs and help them to make informed surgical decisions.
