Alleged wife killer Robin Packham has been released on bail of R50 000.

The 57-year-old man is accused of murdering his schoolteacher wife Gill and trying to cover the murder up by putting her body in a car and setting it alight.

Gill Packham was a staff member at upmarket girls’ school, Springfield Convent, in Cape Town's southern suburbs.

Bail conditions stipulate that he must remain under house arrest until the end of the month, reports EWN's Shamiela Fisher.

The accused will have to report to the Diep River Police Station twice a week, hand over his passport and refrain from making contact with witnesses.

He's not allowed to make contact with witnesses and he's only allowed to leave the house to go to work and to consult with his attorney.

The court ruled that photos of Rob Packham may not be made public by media until the State has conducted an identity parade.
