The #SmartWaterMeterChallenge is officially one year old and the group is celebrating the achievement that helped many Western Cape schools save water.

On 1 November, the campaign reached and exceeded a saving of R20 million - and 260 million litres of water.

This is a collaboration between Prof Thinus Booysen and Stellenbosch University, CapeTalk, Shoprite Group, Bridgiot and the Western Cape Education Department.

About 98 corporates also came on board and contributed in making this project a success.

Booysen says the Western Cape schools combined have already saved about 1 million litres of water daily.
