Overberg fire chief Reinhardt Geldenhuys says several structures have been gutted in the Betty's Bay area near Harold Porter Botanical Gardens.

The fire lines in Betty's Bay came down the mountain and so far we have several structures lost.

A fire in the Overstrand which reignited on Friday is spreading fast as high winds stoke the flames.

The wind is very strong. It's gusting and 70 to 80 kilometres an hour.

Fires are now raging in Franskraal, Karwyderskraal and Betty's Bay.

The fire in Betty's Bay is now heading east and the R44 has been closed again.

The Overstrand Municipality issued an immediate evacuation order in the Franskraal area earlier today.

We're getting people away from the fire and out of the fire and trying to save whatever we can.
