CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies speaks to Mayco member for Transport in the City of Cape Town, Felicity Purchase, about the expansion of the MyCiTi bus service to Wynberg in the southern suburbs.
We are doing a normal route down Wetton Road and a trunk route across South road and Ottery Road to connect the south-east with the Wynberg CBD.
Once approved by the March City council meeting, it should be up and running within two years.
The plan has been passed by the transport portfolio committee and was supported by all parties, says Purchase.
In the medium-term phase 2 of the expansion plan includes the Blue Downs corridor with feeders, a Khayelitsha- Century City corridor, Klipfontein corridor, and Eerste River- Blouberg corridor.
In the longer term, there is Strandfontein-CBD corridor, Symphony Way corridor, Kraaifontein-Century City corridor, and Gordon's Bay-Retreat corridor, a Westlake -Belleville corridor, and Voortrekker Road.
