Time in the Saddle is a podcast series hosted by avid cyclist and radio veteran, Ryan O’Connor focusing on all things exciting in the world of cycling. In the twelfth episode of season two, Ryan O'Connor and Jason Lind welcome Johann de Wet for a chat ahead of the Glacier Cradle Traverse.

The third instalment of Gauteng's Glacier Cradle Traverse is around the corner. Ryan O'Connor and Jason Lind talk to Johann de Wet about the already iconic mountain bike stage race.

The Glacier Cradle Traverse is a three-day stage race, 5-7 April 2019, that includes never-before ridden areas in the Cradle of Humankind, Muldersdrift, and tracks in adjacent estates and conservancies.

The important part for us is about the wider family. The Glacier events are not as competitive as the Epic or some of the bigger and longer stage races. It's a friendly introduction to stage racing.

We accommodate the whole family. It's very important to have the whole family there, to spend time together and to have energy left to spend time with family and friends.

Johann de Wet, Glacier Cradle Traverse

The first year obviously a number of people looked at the event and first evaluated it. In the second year we had a very nice growth and the third year we certainly have a lot more interest because of word of mouth from the mountain biking community.
