A jury in California found that Katy Perry's hit song 'Dark Horse' plagiarised the beat from Christian rapper Flame's track Joyful Noise.

Perry and her team claimed that they had never heard of the track and were not aware of Flame. But Flame's - real name Marcus Gray - lawyers argued that Joyful Noise was a well-known song, pointing to the millions of plays on Spotify and YouTube.

Dark Horse, released in 2013, became one of Katy Perry's biggest hits: the track spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2014, was nominated for a Grammy award and became the second-biggest-selling single worldwide in 2014. Its video has over 2.6 billion views on YouTube.
