South African Airways (SAA) spokesperson Tlali Tali confirms to Clement Manyathela on The Xolani Gwala Show that a decision has been taken to cancel all flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong for Monday.

The decision is due to the escalation of protests in the Chinese-ruled territory.

The clashes on the streets between police and protesters which began 10 weeks ago over allowing extradition to mainland China have been widely shared on social media and Monday's protest at Hong Kong airport would have raised security concerns for airlines.

The two daily flights in and out of Hong Kong have been impacted by protests, says Tlali.

The protests there have impacted operations at the airport and as a result, the Hong Kong International Airport has suspended operations for flights in and out of the airport there.
