For many people, Beaufort West is a stop on the way to their destination. But, as the Kfm Crew discovered, there is so much to see and do in this beautiful Great Karoo town!

Last week, the Department of Local Government invited us to see how we could have a great mini-holiday while still being mindful of our water usage! Here's what the Toyota Kfm Crew got up to.

A visit to the olive groves

Just outside Beaufort West is the Olive Grove Guest Farm which, as the name suggests, is a working olive farm that boasts a number of eco activities such as hiking, mountain biking and bird-watching.

The Crew took a short stroll around the farm along the Porcupine Trail before we were treated to some of the delicious olive products on offer - including an olive jam!

Sunset game drive in the Karoo National Park

The Karoo is home to a stunning range of wildlife, and the Toyota Kfm Crew got to experience it with a sunset game drive around the Karoo National Park. The park also offers guided hikes, 4x4 eco trails and a Fossil Trail, which is a 400m walk showing off real fossils and petrified wood.

A visit to the museum

Three buildings in Beaufort West offer a rich look at the life of one of Beaufort West's most famous sons: Chris Barnard - the surgeon who performed the first successful heart transplant. From the church that Barnard's father preached at to the house that Barnard grew up in and a building dedicated to Barnard's medical successes and awards, the Kfm Crew enjoyed a fascinating experience.

Horse riding

Toyota Kfm Crew member Ricky got to tick off a major bucket list item on our visit to the Vale Karoo Farm - horse riding through the Karoo!

Finding great food

Karoo lamb, excellent biltong, delicious olives, delightful sweet treats... The Toyota Kfm Crew indulged their taste buds at every turn!
