Following listeners concerns about water being used to clean the streets of Cape Town while residents are told to save water daily, Cllr Xanthea Limberg, Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services and Energy says the City uses non-portable water that can't be used for drinking purposes.

She says the City wants to ensure that public spaces remain clean at all times for general use.

Limberg says if water consumption continuous to be high, water levels could be at 20% by the start of the rainy season.

She encourages people to lower their water consumption and adhere to water restrictions

If needs be we will look at implementing stricter water restrictions going forward
