Why, for example, can some people eat copious amounts, remain inactive, and still stay trim; while others diet and exercise without losing kilos? You might say that metabolism and lifestyle are the cause - and you would be right - but few people know that several key subconscious functions can be re-trained via autogenic – self hypnosis - techniques. Re-programming your attitude to eating and exercise, understanding and acting on your reasons for wanting to lose weight, being able to visualise your ideal figure, effective support, staying motivated and a clearly defined action plan are all crucial in the process of weight loss. Diet and exercise programmes are of secondary importance. Remaining positive and on-track in your approach to your regime is a state of mind available to all. Above all, it is safe and simple. In this introductory talk to the “Motivate to Lose Weight” programmes facilitated by Jacques Theron, we will explore some of the issues involved in effective weight loss, as well as experiencing practical mind-over-matter techniques. The ‘Motivate to Lose Weight’ Course includes: 6 group sessions held in Green Point – for support, discussion, motivation and shifting beyond old patterns. A visualisation CD to keep the process on track. A manual – for home processing and exercises. Weekly ‘projects’ and exercises to change the way you see yourself and help motivate a lasting transformation. Jody Abrahams’s one-man show ‘Is Ja!’ is back in Cape Town and you can catch it at Obz Café until the 31st at 8pm. Is Ja! is a roller-coaster ride that uses music and song to tell the sometimes sad, often hilarious, yet always truthful account of Abrahams’ life thus far. In his quest to illustrate the triumphs as well as the heartaches he encountered during his career’s rapid ascendancy, Abrahams takes on the personas of other characters to share his intensely personal story. Written by the talented Johannesburg playwright, Stephen Simm, ‘Is Ja! gives audiences insight into the sometimes bizarre industry called showbiz and allows Abrahams to express his versatility both as an actor and singer. In this run, Abrahams uses more music and a refined musical score to illustrate his story. This ranges from local musical hits to traditional Cape-Malay Medleys. Swing to Afrikaanse liedjies.
