The prestigious international cycling conference "Vélo Mondial" will be on at the Cape Town International Concention Centre (5 - 10 March). Cyclists can join the Velo Mondial delegates at the Centre for an evening cycle ride through the city of Cape Town on Monday at 18h00.
The evening cycle ride coincides with Bike to Work day (6th of March)

HARVEST YOUR OWN HANEPOOT GRAPES

You can now go and harvest your own Hanepoot grapes at De Krans Winery in Calitzdorp. It's all in aid of Vygieshof Old Age Home. Grapes are sold at R3.00 a kilo and cardboard containers can be bought at R4.00 each, or bring your own containers. Scissors will be provided. On Wednesdays and Saturdays braaivleis will be served between 11 am and 2 pm. Meals include a good sized chop , boerewors, 3 salads, roosterkoek, freshly baked bread and home made jams for 'n meagre R35.00 per person. Light meals will also be available. The meals are part of Vygieshof Old Age Homes' fundraising effort. Bookings are essential and a deposit is payable for groups of more than ten.

David Kramer will headline the show Karoo Kitaar Blues at the Spier Amphitheatre from the 3rd to the 11th of March at 8pm. The show is the product of Kramer’s musical journey into the heart of the Karoo and Namaqualand where he encountered eccentric musicians with a unique variety of music. He now shares the stage with them and it promises to be an unique musical experience.
Karoo Kitaar Blues is described as a wholly South African production, which will elicit laughter and tears simultaneously. The show is complemented with songs from David’s most recent CD Huistoe. Joining the band will be the Sonskyn Susters.

Until Monday next week The Cape Town Festival will present South Africa’s first open air short film festival at the V & A Waterfront Amphitheatre. Movie-buffs can enjoy a nightly screening of the best of local and African short films, depicting the lives, hopes and dreams of people living in South Africa, Africa and the African Diaspora. Embark on an enthralling journey through the multi-faceted cultural tapestry that denotes our shared African heritage. Three to six 3 to 6 short films will be screened daily between 20h00 and 22h00 at the open-air amphitheatre. This is a free event.

Cape Town musician Mike McCullagh's show "Myths and Legends" will take centre stage at the V&A Waterfront's Theatre @ The Pavilion from Wednesday, 1 March until the end of May. It’s an African-inspired retro musical featuring reinvented music of the 60’s to 90’s, as well as the sounds of the Fezeka School Choir. You can also book for a buffet dinner before the show.
Mike says: "The show weaves together a collection of myths such as the stories of Van Hunks, the Alibama and the modern-day tale of Aquarius, made prominent by legends in the music industry," he adds.
