NIC MARAIS
|
What's
your most embarrassing moment?
In hindsight, the moments where I didn’t try things I wanted to. |
What's the best piece
of advice you've received?
My favourite stuff is all Goethe’s: If you want to make life easy, make it hard.
|
What's your secret
indulgence?
Dark chocolate. |
Who has influenced you
most?
Me. Not always for the better, not always of my own accord – but I don’t think there’s anyone else who’s more responsible for the decisions I’ve made. |
What's a typical Sunday morning
like for you?
Seriously, the longer I do this, the less typical everything becomes.

Bio
Nic got his first taste for radio as an intern in the 94.5 Kfm newsroom at just 17.
He started presenting sport bulletins on the station just after writing matric, and began anchoring the Kfm breakfast show about a month after graduating from UCT.
Nic, a born and bred Capetonian, is wildly popular with 94.5 Kfm's listeners and has helped grow the breakfast show into the biggest in the Western Cape's history. With Nic in the driving seat the show celebrated its sixth anniversary this year – just another first on a growing list.
When he’s not talking to the people of the Cape he’s enjoying all the province has to offer. Nic spends a lot of time outdoors and says it’s “mostly to find some way to feed my competitive streak.”
He has a reputation as a health and fitness fanatic and an adrenaline junkie. Apart from being an avid cyclist, runner, hiker and squash player, Nic enjoys taking it to the extreme with skydiving and bungee jumping. In 2003 he reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and months later joined an expedition chasing a solar eclipse all the way to the Antarctic.
Nic spends the rest of his time trying to overcome a painfully short attention span and stealing hours of sleep lost because he's a "night person who finds it very difficult to go to bed like everyone else." |
