Irma G
|
What's
your most embarrassing moment?
Why limit yourself to just one? I always make sure that I have at least one good one per day. If there was a gun pointed to my head I would have to choose the time I stepped onto the stage at the huge New Year's Eve Bash last year to make some announcements, to discover no lights and no audio on mic! (Please tell me this is a character builder!) |
What's the best piece
of advice you've received?
"Treat others the way you want to be treated", Thanks mom, sound advice like this has made life fairly easy and painless! |
What's your secret
indulgence?
It is no secret, I have a few, Chocolate, Shoes, Handbags, Music and Underwear! Yeah! Oh and there is no specific order! |
Who has influenced you
most?
My Family, they are constantly teaching me about life and ways to deal with any emotion! Basically preparing me for life! |
What's a typical Sunday morning
like for you?
Church at 9:30am, tea at my priest's house after the service. This is often followed by a lunch at my house, with my siblings and their children. Then I might watch a bit of TV, see my boyfriend and then make my way to work! |
Bio
Irma G measures her own success on how eager she is to face the day ahead and says radio fills her with excitement at the start of each day. Having been in the industry for 12 years, Irma is a well known club DJ and in constant demand as a MC.
Despite all of this, she is firmly rooted to the ground. Irma was born in Bonteheuwel and grew up and still lives in Mitchells Plain where her love for radio emerged when she started working at an in-house radio station at Westgate Mall. She was snapped up by 94.5 Kfm soon after completing matric. After a 6 year stint at Good Hope, she returned to the station in 2004 and now presents the community diary, ‘the buzz’, traffic and the daily power update reports.
Irma says she simply loves "everything" about her job: "The music, the relationships and friendships you build, and I love that no one day is ever the same." Irma's inspired by life and believes in giving back. She is actively involved in community work and has backed various fundraising events, including Cape Town's Finest which raises thousands of rands for schools and other organisations in the city. Irma wouldn't change a thing about Cape Town: "I've lived here all my life and love every aspect of it." |
