your most embarrassing moment?
Being thrown into the deep end on radio one night when the regular DJ didn't show up - and then promptly forgetting my own name during the first link. I now wear an upside-down nametag ... just in case! |

of advice you've received?
Don't let your past determine your future and don't let your surroundings dictate your level of achievement. - Advice from a close older friend when I was a teenager growing up in the gutter suburbs of Mannenberg and Bonteheuwel on the Cape Flats. |
What's your secret
indulgence?
Doesn't matter what you do to me ... I'll never tell! You can hang me upside down from a raging bull. You can feed me fire ants during Chinese water torture. I don't care. You can sear my nipples with flaming vice clamps, while pulling out my fingernails with ... OK OK! I'll talk. I listen to alternative, classical and world music, i.e. Era, Andreas Vollenweider, Yanni, Vangelis and the like. Please keep this between the two of us. I also consume a ridiculous number of books, enjoy dabbling with new cooking ideas, adventure sports, hiking and scouring second hand stores for antique furniture! |
Who has influenced you
most?
It's more a question of "what" has influenced me most ... I'd say my imaginative ambition and creative persistence. But if it must be a person, then I'd say Richard Branson.
To a lesser extent, I'd say Willy Coyote. He never gives up ... and you know what! One day he's going to catch that damn bird. |
What's a typical Sunday morning
like for you?
I wake up to Enya. Then I might go for a long drive, without a map or a clue where I'm going and only my camera and favourite music to keep me company. |
