Charmaine Noy
|
What's
your most embarrassing moment?
I was doing a talk show on weddings and a listener called in to share her experience. While she was talking, I had a quick chat with my producer. I suddenly realised she had stopped and having no idea what she’d last said, I asked, “So, was your Mother very involved with your wedding?” She was silent and then slowly replied, “But I just told you, my mother died shortly before my wedding!”
I learnt an invaluable lesson: to not just hear people, but to listen!

What's the best piece
of advice you've received?
The one thing you can’t get rid of by losing, is your temper. |
What's your secret
indulgence?
I don’t really have any, BUT I must be that one in a million who LOVE’s marzipan. Not the wedding cake type, but the silky imported marzipan with the thin dark chocolate coating. AND… the best thing is, no one ever asks me to share! |
Who has influenced you
most?
I’m exceptionally fortunate to have worked with some of the most professional and passionate people in radio, who have taught me an enormous amount.
Other great influences are my friends, who enrich my life beyond description.

like for you?

Bio
Charmaine Noy is enthusiastic about life and says she tries to have a positive disposition at all times.
It's this attitude, and an amazing voice, which has taken Charmaine from an admin temp at 567 CapeTalk 10 years ago, to presenting the weekday afternoon slot on the Cape's No 1. Hit Music Station, 94.5 Kfm. And it's all of these qualities combined that have made her one of the most sought after MCs in the city.
Charmaine got her break in radio by filling in as a traffic reporter during her early days at 567 CapeTalk. Since then she's taken to broadcasting seamlessly, first presenting drive time traffic reports, then hosting early morning and weekend shows on 567 CapeTalk before moving over to 94.5 Kfm in 2006. Charmaine has developed a close relationship with her listeners, even chatting off air to callers when there's time. It's this fresh interaction which she loves about radio.
A born and bred Capetonian, Charmaine is passionate about the city and urges locals to take greater care of its delicate environment. She loves the outdoors and spends weekends either exploring nature or spending quality time with friends. Charmaine's zest for life has earned her a reputation as an action woman. She's cage-dived with crocodiles, appeared as a contestant on Fear Factor and flown a helicopter! She now wants to tackle rock climbing. |
