What's
your most embarrassing moment?
Well.... I was MCing a music festival in Durban, called Splashy Fen, and I was about to introduce Cape Town band, The Rudimentals.
Anway, I was freaking out because I really dig them and I didn't want to look like an idiot on stage. I stood backstage going on and on and on to this random dude standing next to me, I kept telling him how this was the only band I wanted to see at the festival and I was so nervous to introduce them and and and...WELL, that random guy... just happened to be... Ross from PRIME frikken CIRCLE!!!!!! The festival's headliner! OBVIOUSLY! That's Miller's Law for you.
The MCing went really well though :-) |
What's the best piece
of advice you've received?
At different times, different things seems relevant... but the advice that's stayed throughout my many many years on earth...
You buy cheap... you buy twice and,
when in doubt... LEAVE IT OUT! |
What's your secret
indulgence?
Ooooh smooth, no name brand, peanut butter with banana on toast… WHAT A VIBE! |
Who has influenced you
most?
In life – everyone you meet seems to have some sort of an influence. But in radio – I owe everything to my mentors and fellow DJs at Mr Price’s Red Cap Radio. They gave me advice daily and were a huge part of my being here now. Thanks guys. Aaaaah! |
What's a typical Sunday morning
like for you?
Sunday has a morning? I was honestly under the impression it only turned on at midday! I will find this sunday morning... and i will make it mine!!!! But there're a LOT of places in my area that serve breakfast till 5pm!!! |
Bio
I was born in Durban, KZN on a rainy night in April. I like pink and long walks on the beach…if I’m heading toward a bar of some sort. I spent my WHOLE life trying to get to Cape Town and eventually... 94.5Kfm. I spent a year in the States as a Rotary Exchange Student in 2000 and started studying at the University of Kwazulu-Natal in 2001. I got my honours (cum laude, don't judge me) in Drama & Performance Studies and IsiZulu in 2004. After graduating I began lecturing isiZulu at UKZN (main campus and medical school). In 2006, I started training at Mr. Price's Red Cap Radio. After 2 1/2 years there I realised radio was TOTALLY my passion!!!!! and here I am.... living the dream. (applause)!!! |
