What's
your most embarrassing moment?
While commentating a horse race, not only did I forget the colours but also the name of the horse, the worse thing that could ever happen to a commentator. Goodness gracious me, the silence was deafening when that horse came home lonely to win the race. |
What's the best piece
of advice you've received?
In order to succeed in this business, is not about being able to do the job, but the talent to be good at what you do. And always remember, never highlight a problem unless you have the solution. |
What's your secret
indulgence?
Gee, now that would be telling. Besides my secret will never be safe with you ... mmm! |
Who has influenced you
most?
Where does one begin? Seriously now ... my immediate family who have always been very supportive. |
What's a typical Sunday morning
like for you?
Must tell you, I'm looking forward to having Sunday mornings off now that I'll be working in the evenings on weekends. So I guess if it's not off to church early on Sunday mornings, probably lying in and catching up on sleep. But the best part no doubt will be those long lazy Sunday lunches I'll now get to enjoy with the family. |
Bio
It was always my desire to work in radio, my lucky break came in 1989 when I joined Good Hope FM. Come to think of it, this year I celebrate my 17th year in broadcasting. Kfm 94.5 became part of life in 1999 and I've been here ever since and am enjoying every minute of it.
Apart from radio I am also one of only six people employed in the country on a regular basis as a horseracing commentator. Now that is definitely not a job for the faint-hearted, believe you me. However it does have its perks and at least three or four times a year on big racedays like the Met, the Durban July, Summer Cup and Champions Day I get to work on the extended national TV broadcast. |
