PETROL SAVING TIPS

Despite rising fuel prices there are some smart ways of saving money by being aware of the aspects that increase consumption. Petroleum company, BP, known for its high quality fuels which allow for cleaner combustion and better fuel efficiency have compiled some easy to implement tips for all drivers.

Zandile Mposelwa, Fuels Specialist at BP says there is no need to buy expensive add-on equipment to reduce fuel consumption. “The surest way to save on fuel is to simply change the way you drive”, she says.

She offers the following suggestion:

Maintain your vehicle. A badly maintained vehicle is unlikely to perform as it is designed to. Problems such as partially blocked filters, poor oil performance and emissions control systems under-performing may occur. These and other factors will prevent your engine from functioning as well as the manufacturer intended it to, which can result in increased fuel consumption and higher emissions
