OLD MUTUAL SUMMER SUNSET CONCERTS AT KIRSTENBOSCH show off the best in South African entertainment.
“…at its best the city offers a relaxed blend of African ethnicity and culture – and nowhere does that harmony look, or sound, better than at the summer concerts at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden”. – Time Magazine, 19 November 2007

Flash Republic / Foto Na Dans
Since the release of its debut, ‘Time Is Now’ in 2005 Flash Republic has been fleshing out a musical vision that is only just hitting its considerable creative stride. The past six year have seen the band hone a dance-driven sound that easily places it alongside similar top-drawer outfits around the globe. The group has now expanded out of its founding core of Tamara Dey, Ryan Dent and Craig Massiv to include two scorching hot live musicians in the form of Martin Rocka on guitar and Isaac Klawansky) on drums.
Foto na Dans was formed when vocalist Le Roi Nel joined Theuns, Dirkie, Neil and Alex, who previously played in a band together. It took seven years in and out of projects for the members to finally find the right combination. Foto na Dans is the result of creative self-expression that has not heeded to commercial influences, finding and establishing their own new significant sound in Afrikaans.

Robin will be performing a solo acoustic show at Kalk Bay Theatre from the 1st to the 5th Feb. Slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals feature in the show which will include material from his latest blue/roots album, “Fingers in my pocket”. Recorded in London, Robin describes it as being a walkin’, credit card, institutional failure, mean women and a sore head” kind of album.. African influences are never far away though, with a reggae song and even a Cape Town goema tune to pepper the mix! There will also be acoustic versions of his older hits, and there may well be a few stories..a lively and upbeat evening of entertainment!

Six of the Best
A Tribute to Freddie Mercury, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Cher & Pink
The Barnyard Theatre Productions presents a tribute to surpass all tributes, as we celebrate the music of the 6 greatest pop icons of all time. Imagine a concert featuring Freddie Mercury, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Pink and Cher all on one stage in one show singing number one hits from the last four decades of pop music.
These artists have dominated the charts to such a degree and made such an impact on the music industry that it is essential to stage a special tribute!
The show features an 11- piece cast who make their way through a repertoire that was made in Rock and Roll Heaven. Just imagine Meat Loaf challenging the vocal ability of Freddie who in turn has to compete with Bon Jovi! Then we have the power and beauty of Pink, and the soulfulness of Billy, and of course let’s not forget the flamboyance and decadence of Cher!
Six of the Best is about showmanship and charisma and the music all comes together in one big concert that will simply blow your mind!
