South African track and field sprinter, current world and Olympic record holder, Olympic champion and newly announced Laureus Ambassador Wayde van Niekerk joined Kfm Mornings in-studio.

On the knee injury he suffered while playing in a charity touch rugby match in 2017

I believe that I am 110% now, I'm excited for the upcoming season and obviously the Olympic games coming up... I think everything is now back to where I want it to be and it's really just about putting in that hard work to get back to where I belong on the track.

Wayde van Niekerk

On whether or not the Olympics will happen this year.

If we look at other sporting codes right around the world it's happening, so Olympics being one of the biggest sporting events... I think it definitely will happen... it's just about us prepping and making sure we're ready when the gun goes.

Wayde van Niekerk

On his recently announced Laureus Ambassadorship

It's very special, I'm very excited to be able to give back, to inspire. If we look at the names and the personalities that I'll be associated with, it's guys that inspired me growing up.
